What Author Stephenie Meyer Reads When She's Not Writing Twilight

Everyone knows Stephenie Meyer as the uber-famous, best-selling author of The Twilight Saga books. But when she's not busy turning out her next tale of Bella and Edward's true love, Meyer has her own list of favorite authors and bedtime reads. And she has way more than vampires on the brain.

"I did discover one really wonderful two-book series," Meyer wrote on her website www.stepheniemeyer.com "Dreamhunter and Dreamquake by Elizabeth Knox. It's like nothing else I've ever read."

Meyer is also a fan of author Suzanne Collins' work.

"I also got an early look at a book I've been eagerly awaiting: Catching Fire, the sequel to Suzanne Collins' phenomenal The Hunger Games. It not only lived up to my high expectations, it surpassed them. It's just as

Kiowa Gordon (who plays Jacob Black's pal Embry Call), revealed to MTV that there's a funny/intense scene in the flick which he calls "the muffin scene." More specifically? "We all gather around at Emily's house — she's Sam, the big pack leader's, fiancée — and we all just gather around and eat muffins and talk about stuff."

Ah, yes. Just a bunch of werewolves, enjoying a hearty breakfast. Nothing wrong with that! (Pass the butter, please.)

But ask Taylor Lautner about all this muffin eating and he seems a little bitter...

"I didn't have the pleasure to enjoy any muffins," said Taylor. Why not? "When they were eating their funny little muffins, I was standing in the back, all pissed off [because Jacob, in the scene, isn't too psyched about some family drama and the whole 'turning into a wolf' thing]."

She also stated that she referred to them as Bachelor’s 1, 2, 3, and 4 (that is including Robert Pattinson!). As we all know, Jackson was cast in the movie as Edward’s brother, Jasper Hale.

What do you think? Loaded question I know! We obviously are very happy with Robert as Edward Cullen. Can any of you see Jackson, Ben, or Shiloh as Edward?

Ah, we finally got our She Wolf (apologies to Shakira).

That actress you see is Julia Jones, who Summit just confirmed will play Leah Clearwater in the upcoming Eclipse (she's the only known female member of the Quileute tribe... so I guess that means she gets the bathroom all to herself).

Plus, it was announced that Boo Boo Stewart (awesome name) will play her bro Seth (that's the cutie in the pic below Julia).

Oh, yeah. And, if that wasn't enough to get your Eclipse engines roarin', Summit also confirmed that Jodelle Ferland WILL play Bree, as many of you already suspected.

So that rounds out all the major casting!

Of course, you'll have to wait until June 30, 2010 to see all these newbies in action. But from the looks of things, it'll be worth the wait!

Now if you'll excuse us, we have to go practice our howl. Maybe we can become the SECOND known female member of the Quileute tribe (probs our only way to meet Jacob).

During a photo shoot with Entertainment Weekly, Taylor Lautner confessed that he's obsessed with American Idol. So much so, that Kristen Stewart joked, "I wanna go on American Idol with Taylor."

Their audition tune of choice? "'Love Story' by Taylor Swift," revealed K-Stew (which Taylor referred to as "our song"... awwww!!!!).

Could a werewolf and a human who hangs with vampires really make it to the Top 10 on Idol, especially now that softie (and no doubt Team Jacob member) Paula Abdul is gone?

With a new director, a new level of fame for stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and a new set of washboard abs for Taylor Lautner, the second film in the Twilight series, due Nov. 20, promises even more swooning-opportunities for its fans. This week’s double issue of Entertainment Weekly places Stewart and Lautner on the cover, while revealing secrets from the New Moon set inside.
New Moon, a far different beast than Twilight, is steeped in heartbreak, focusing on the recovery Bella (Stewart) undergoes after Edward (Pattinson) breaks her heart and her new feelings for her friend Jacob (Lautner). Pattinson couldn’t be happier with his downsized role: “It was a stress-free job for three months,” says the actor. “All the pressure was on Taylor.”
There were some minicontroversies surrounding the set – director Chris Weitz replaced Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke, Lautner had to publicly campaign to keep the role of Jacob, and actress Rachelle Lefevre was replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the soon-to-be-shot third film in the series. Lautner ultimately secured the spot thanks in part to Stewart. “It’s completely understandable why they wanted to make sure he was right,” says the actress. “He was so young, 16, so I got it. But I knew he had [to do] it. Just because of how I felt around him.” And how did the Bella-Jacob best-friend chemistry play out on set? “We have that relationship,” she says. “It’s lamely cute.”
Taylor trained hard to bulk up for the role of the budding werewolf. “My body fat got so low that we actually needed to increase it a little bit,” he says. “My trainer would be like, ‘Go have a huge milk shake just so I can get a thousand calories into your body.’”
Stewart thinks the new film will be beefier, too: “[Making Twilight] was much more of a fight,” she says. “We needed to make something commercial but stay true to the book. We didn’t have enough money. It was all very impulsive, and that’s what I love about that movie…But I think New Moon is gonna be even better.”

he “feel(s) bad about it” and “had kind of forgotten that she had a cameo in the first one [Twilight].”

Whoops! On the scheme of things, not that big of a deal. But it was cool to see Stephenie in Twilight, and kinda disappointing that she won’t appear in New Moon. Although it is rather odd considering she was on set in Vancouver.

He doesn't have a Facebook or Twitter account, though he says plenty of people pose as him online.
He's a major Red Bull fan and drank it throughout our shoot.
His favorite band, U2, is performing in Vancouver this summer, where he'll be shooting Eclipse!

Residents of Forks, Washington State, are still stunned by what a piece of assiduous Googling from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has unleashed on their town. Looking for the US's rainiest location in which to set her vampire series, she lighted upon the small town, population 3,221.

Fans of the books and film, based around Bella Swan and her dreamy vampire love interest Edward Cullen, began pouring into Forks. Today hundreds visit the town daily; its visitor count for June was more than 8,000 - around the number who used to come in a year. Restaurants have Twilight-themed menus with dishes such as Bellasagne, shops sell Twilight items, and tours cover the books' locations.

The logging town has been transformed, says Mike Gurling of the Forks Chamber of Commerce. "Two years ago we did not have a cash register or credit card terminal. Now our sales of anything that says 'Forks' have increased dramatically." A literary symposium was held last month in Forks high school, including - unusually for a symposium - "an actual, real Prom". Chris Cook, editor of the local paper and author of guide book Twilight Territory, says the school's principal was mobbed at a Seattle airport when a teenage fan spotted his Forks Spartan jacket and started yelling, "He's from Forks, he's from Forks!" The fervour is such, Cook says, that a local evangelist, Hallelujah Bill, has started preaching to fans about the dangers of becoming cult followers of the books.

While some don't like the attention Twilight has brought, others are enjoying the kudos. Cook says that "traditionally, Forks has been considered by Seattle folks as the sticks, the home of loggers and simple rural ways. Now it's a bit of a status symbol."

Susan Brager, who runs the Miller Tree Inn, now also known as Cullen House, says that although she isn't a huge fan of the books - "not great literature" - she definitely appreciates the tourists. "They like it when it rains," she says.

"What could be better than that for a community that gets more than 120in each year?"

Hold on to your fangs Twi-Hards, MovieSet has a special edition Behind The Scenes Show all about The Twilight Saga and the movie New Moon. It’s a three-part featurette where we take you on the MovieSet Vancouver Twilight Tour.
As you all already know, although it is not based in Vancouver, Canada, Twilight: New Moon was actually shot there, and there’s tons of companies offering tours around the set locations from the movie. So if you want to visit all the spots that Bella and Edward go in the movie then well… you can. Unfortunately not everyone has the time or the money to fly to Vancouver and do the tour as it can be quite the expensive.
But here at MovieSet we hate to see any Twi-Hard stay home without at least getting a TASTE of what the REAL Twilight fans are getting. *cough*

Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre are playing Paul Giamatti's many wives in "Barney's Version," the adaptation of the Mordecai Richler novel being directed by Richard Lewis. Robert Lantos is producing via his Serendipity Point Films."Barney's" tells the story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky (Giamatti).

Lefevre will play Clara, Barney's first wife, a wild, troubled artist. Driver plays Barney's second wife, the annoyingly loquacious Mrs. "P." Miriam, Barney's third wife and true love, will be played by Pike.

Principal photography starts Aug. 17 in Rome. Dustin Hoffman also is in the cast, playing Barney's father.

Michael Konyves wrote the adaptation. Co-producing are Lyse Lafontaine, Domenico Procacci and Ari Lantos. Mark Musselman is executive producing.

Driver, repped by CAA and Untitled, recently wrapped shooting "Betty Anne Waters" with Hilary Swank.

Pike, repped by WME and Magnolia Entertainment, next appears in the Bruce Willis sci-fi actioner "The Surrogates," being released in the fall by Disney.

R-Pattz feeling the stress of being in the spotlight

Poor Robert Pattinson. Along with the great misfortune of being blessed with an extremely handsome face comes the great burden of dealing with utterly — and perhaps overly — devoted fans.

When R-Pattz first arrived in NYC in early June to start filming Remember Me, he planned to work hard at his craft by day and then seamlessly slink into the city’s nightlife without hassle. But low-key Rob didn’t count on his skyrocketing superstar status, or being followed at every turn by both fans and photographers. Insiders say the mounting pressures of fame are taking their toll on the sensitive screen vampire.

“It’s crazytown,” a source on the set tells OK!. “There are all these girls with a lot of hormones and a lot of time on their hands.”

Some of them leave their phone numbers on Rob’s car and trailer, like one that read, “I think we’re meant to be together. Call me.”

Still, the polite Brit is trying to be gracious to his fans.

“Rob’s a nice guy — he doesn’t want to disappoint people,” the security detailer says. “He stops to say hello when he can, but he just can’t do it a lot. People bring him gifts, but we can’t take them — we don’t know where they’ve come from.”

In a move to shield their leading man from the cameras and curiosity seekers, the Remember Me crew has stuck Rob in a box, constructing a 7-foot-high enclosure from material screens, where the actor retreats between takes. Not that the fan frenzy dies down when the day’s filming is done.

“I worked on Gossip Girl with guys like Penn Badgely,” says the on-set source. “We’d go out after work and play beer pong. Nobody would bother them. There’s no way Rob can do that. He’d be mobbed.”

Perhaps those who envy his devastating good looks and fame might heed this insider’s five simple — and sad — words to OK!: “I feel bad for him.”

"I'm done with New Moon. It was really easy to work on with [Director] Chris Weitz. It all starts with the director, and he really moves the tempo with shooting. And he's just so mellow and relaxed that it trickled down to the crew. And they were really prepared and it trickled down to the actors, who were really comfortable. And since Twilight was really accepted by the fans, it really allowed us to feel comfortable in our shoes."

On what to look forward to in NM:
"Something to really look forward to is Jackson Rathbone's scene when he's playing Jasper, and Bella cuts her finger at her birthday party. He really loses himself there. He really transformed himself and got there, so it was really cool to see. And I think the fans will really like to see that and be surprised with how fierce he looked and got."

On continuing to play Emmett:
"Emmett has quite a larger role with Eclipse and then Breaking Dawn, so I'm really excited to shoot Eclipse coming up soon and then hopefully Breaking Dawn!

On encountering fans:
"As far as the fans, I guess nothing too bizarre [has happened]. The conventions are always on lockdown, and at the publicity events, we have security. But when I'm in LA and I'm walking around -- I was driving one day, leaving my neighborhood and this car pulled up right next to me and they started screaming out their window! They told me to roll the window down, and I'm like 'What the heck is going on?' And I roll my window down and it's "Emmett!" Just screaming! And I'm like, 'Oh, that's why!' I forgot and this was right after we were done shooting [Twilight], so I really didn't know the hype for the movie. Or that fans had so much love for it! So when that happened, I was just realy taken back."

After changing clothes and cleaning up following his morning shoot, the “Twilight” stud got back behind the cameras - being joined on set by co-star Pierce Brosnan.
Also paying a visit to the Big Apple shooting locale was GMA host, Diane Sawyer, who reportedly brought her daughter along to meet Pattinson during a break in the action.

Yup, the Twilight sequel is opening in France on November 18 -- that's two days earlier than in the United States. Not just that, the movies and book series have different French titles. Twilight = Fascination, New Moon = Tentation, Eclipse = Hésitation, Breaking Dawn = Révélation (Even if you don't speak French, kinda makes sense, huh?).

After Robert Pattinson confirmed he was signed on for the fourth Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn, back in Cannes, we've all been dying for more juicy deets on the hypersexualized film. (More on exactly how much naughtier the flick will be, next week.)
Yes, we know we're getting overeager since the script for the third flick, Eclipse, which starts shooting Aug. 17, hasn't even been finished yet.
"I haven't seen a page," exclaimed Ashley Greene, who's heading back up to Vancouver to shoot the third Twi flick this summer.
Even though we're getting a tad ahead of ourselves, we tried to pry any dirt out of Ashley and Billy Burke last weekend on what's in store for the final movie.
Read on:
"All I know is that, as of now, I only signed on to do three," B.B. told us. Coyly played Billy. Maybe he's just trying to keep all Twi dirt on the down-low, or it could be that the secondary castmembers haven't started negotiations. Rob and Kristen Stewart are locked in (after so much drama you have no idea—but you're not interested in that, right?), so that's all that matters.
But Breaking Dawn isn't exactly as far away as you all would think.
"We're going to start right after Eclipse," says Ash.
That doesn't come as surprise to us, as we exclusively told you how Summit would be pumping out this franchise as fast as possible to avoid any "bumps" in the road.
So will we see any repeat directors for the fourth film?
"I don't think so," says Ms. Greene. "[Eclipse director] David [Slade] and [New Moon director] Chris [Weitz] will both be busy in postproduction, and Catherine [Hardwicke] will be doing Hamlet."
Well, like we said in last week's Truth, Lies, & Ted, there's no friggin' way Catherine would be back even if it was possible! Despite all the success and money C.H. brought Summit, insiders insist she's so crazy she wouldn't get the gig if Robsten themselves demanded it.
And as much as everyone adored Chris, that's not going to happen because of "scheduling conflicts," we're told.
So there ya have it. Who do you all think should do the fourth one?

We love to sink our fangs into any gossip about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but c'mon, some rumors are just outright ridic!!!

For instance? An Australian tabloid called New Weekly ran a cover story recently claiming K-Stew is pregnant... with Rob's baby!

Their "evidence" includes a shot of Kristen with the top button of her leather pants unbuttoned on the set of the Runaways flick she's filming. They call it "bump watch."

Uhhh, I think that's called getting some freakin' air, people! Tight leather pants = portable sauna. Lay off poor Kristen!

While we're not breaking a sweat over this bit of "news," we thought it might be entertaining to try to top all the Twilight fiction out there.
